Our rising kindergarten student got into Rock Creek Forest Spanish immersion. We live in the neighborhood so either way, they will be attending RCF. Any recent feedback about the immersion or English program? Thank you!
If you're one of those OCD parents about testing and your child always being in the 99th percentile choose English. The Immersion kids aren't initially as strong as the English kids but in time they do tend to surpass them in middle school and beyond. That is why the Immersion program shies away from Spanish during the latter years of elementary and does more teaching in English to catch them up. This is as a group and of course individual results may vary.
However, if you're not that parent by all means go through with the Immersion. You can always hop out if you don't like it. Yes, the class sizes are larger but your child will get to learn a new language for Free.99. The only thing better than that is if they pay you for the opportunity and no, they will not.
Also, if we're talking siblings here you do have a leg up in future lotteries. Not a guarantee but definitely a leg up.
