No, there is not that. He's a grown up. He doesn't need to have everything spoonfed to him like a fuxxing child. I'm all for hints or ideas for gifts, within reason. But sometimes, you can expect them to listen, to know what your own wife likes. Somehow Im able to do that. . .

Funny you mention it - we discussed it a few weeks ago and I mentioned that I was interested in some jewelry as well as a handbag that I would pick out on my own or send him a link. Regarding the jewelry I said I was interested in a specific type of necklace and maybe we could go to the jeweler and discuss.

So if the card had mentioned "here is a placeholder, etc" that would make sense. FWIW, DH doesn't even know VC + A or what is their Alhambra style. He just randomly picked up the knock off.

He bought her the wrong sizes in everything. I'd be pretty upset too if DH paid so little attention he didn't know what would fit me

Tell him you'd rather no gifts than obvious after-thought gifts. Tell him it's OK to wake up the day of your birthday, without any gifts, as long as he's really nice all day, cooks and cleans, or brings you to a lovely restaurant (of your choice), and/or buys a really fancy cake. Or insert whatever you like best here in terms of flowering plants or jewelry or something else.

My husband has ADHD and I'm pathologically picky in terms of gifts: he stopped trying to remember to buy gifts I didn't like anyway, and instead wakes up the day of and makes me his version of French mendiants (delicious wafer thin chocolate coins with tiny fragments of candied fruit and nuts). He gets me exactly the flowers I like and signs the card our daughter makes for me.

I buy my own gifts, and I prefer it that way.

My BD today. DH went away with a few of his besties this weekend as one had a big BD. He needs a break so great that he could get away.

He got in very, very late so is still asleep. He left two gifts for me on table - the bigger gift wrap included 2 t-shirts from his weekend destination - perhaps a 13 y.o. could fit in they are so small. The smaller is a truly knock off Alhambra bracelet and too small for my wrist.

The cards are wonderful and thrilled that he thinks I am the same size from our early years. Just wish he would have stopped there. He probably spent all in 2-3K for his weekend away and these gifts probably come in at around $50 total.

Just wish he would have left it with the cards.
