She's in a new home and she needs security and lots of love right now. It's no different than a child.

I have the same scenario OP. New dog, not a puppy, and following me around everywhere. And he's huge so I can't just step over him. Sometimes I almost trip over him. I feel guilty closing my bedroom door at night. He follows me to my room, literally stands and stares at me when I close the door (he stays up later with my kids). I think it's kind of cute and funny. Yes, it can be annoying, but I figure at some point he'll become more settled and comfortable and stop doing it. Also, if he's laying down and I get up to do anything he will jump up and come see what I'm doing.

We had a 2 year old rescue lab. this drove me nuts. First, training. Create boundaries. Let them know places that they are to stay while you roam. Second, we needed Reconcile (Prozac) as the separation anxiety was out of control. It helped immensely, and our rescue-mandated trainer was happy we got it from our vet. Third, consistency. My wife indulged the behavior and it was a disservice to the dog. The trainer ended up training my wife more than the dog on this point

I have been fostering dogs for 15+ years. This is very typical and will eventually subside. Just have some patience. I don’t think people realize how traumatic bring rehomed is for dogs.

You’re the leader of her pack. She was pulled from some other situation and she doesn’t understand why, so she’s still insecure. She should settle eventually.

Most likely this will work itself out and as she gets used to your home and routine she will find spots to nap and won't be glued to you.

But in the meantime, she loves you and she's happy to be part of your family and you'll learn to look around more before you make a move.

I got a new dog recently and she won’t stop following me. She’s not a puppy and was adopted 2 weeks ago. It was cute at first but is becoming difficult to maneuver around sometimes because she’s always there. Sometimes I trip over her because she’s just so close. How do I curb this?
