I think I'm going to be made redundant. I saw a position listed on my company's job board in my department that comprises many of my job responsibilities, as well as those of another coworker. The max of the listed salary range is $20k less than what I make. I knew we were going to be hiring a new person in my department but I didn't think that there would be any overlap with my responsibilities. My boss is on leave for the next six months which I think gives me some job security (we're a lean department and I'll be the sole person handling their typical responsibilities) but it looks like I might be training my replacement. I realize it's possible that we're expanding but I had a bad feeling when I read the job description for this role. Any advice besides saving money and preparing for a job loss? TIA.
