I'm older and I faintly remember a cartoon version of Wizard of Oz I saw as a young child that had an ending like this.

It stuck with me because I was surprised that it was different than the movie which I had seen previously.

Maybe others are remembering something like ike that. I'm trying to Google the title but can't find it.

SO. WEIRD!

Op, how do you or your sisters spell dilemma?
Many people remember learning the word was spelled with an "n" and taught to remember it by providing "dilemna" in your head.

Maybe this is a child's wishful thinking to always be believed by her parents..it's so strong that it's kind of a cultural zeitgeist.

Here's a whole reddit about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/MandelaEffect/comments/vole00/the_wizard_of_ozs_other_ending/

Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies. I've never heard of this ending with the shoes. However, I don't believe so many people remembering this ending independently could just be a fluke! I'm so curious about this now!!

Sounds overly dramatic like an episode of goosebumps-so depending on how old you are, maybe you applied a common sitcom device to the movie and created that 'did they/didn't they/OMG it was true' feeling.

Aren't all the Kansas scenes in black and white? How would you have noticed red shoes?

The Wizard of Oz just happens to be on TV and I was texting with my three sisters -- we SWEAR when we were growing up, the ending was different -- that there was a glimpse of the ruby slippers under her bed at the very end, showing that everything really did happen to her.

Is this a shared hallucination?! Or did they show an alternate ending at some point?

I mean, there are four of us, a span on 10 years between the oldest and youngest. Could we all really have imagined that ending?
