“Japanese” cars sold in the US are made here.

Strange statement by someone who has read a lot about cars but only remember the tag lines. This is simply not a true statement.

For example, aside from the Prius comment above (100% made in Japan) the Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, WRX, WRX STI, or BRZ they are made at the plant in Gunma, Japan.

What dealership is it? I had a horrible experience with a popular DC area dealership doing a shoddy repair that made the car unsafe to drive. I went to an independent mechanic who fixed it (in a totally different area, sorry i cannot recommend a good mechanic in DC). in retrospect i should have sued the dealership in small claims and/or sold the car.

Your dealer service department lied to you. That sensor is covered unless they can prove you ripped it out deliberately to disable it.

If a new car, should be covered by bumper to bumper coverage. Contact manufacturer.

That is not your fault and should be covered. Call the manufacture and talk to a different dealer.

This should be covered by the manufacturer warranty. This dealer has no proof that you caused the problem. They are only speculating. This is a bad service from this dealer. Take the car to a different dealer.

Items under the seat broke a wire? Did you stick a chain saw in there? If not, sounds like a design flaw that you shouldn’t be paying for. I’d complain to their GM. Ask to reverse the charge and give you a rental until they fix your car

Get the part from junk yard or internet

I don't know what brand your car is, but there are dealerships that sell parts online to individuals. Do a google search and then call one of those, they probably can figure out what is broken and sell you the parts and / or give you the part number. Then once you google the part number it will show up in various places on ebay, amazon, etc.. Then buy it and have someone install it or do it yourself if it's not too difficult. It sounds like it's a wire harness that goes under the seats. So not something that people replace very often.

Get the part number and source it yourself. Once you locate it, send the stealership the info and tell them to get it on their dime. I needed a new mirror for my Escalade and the local Cadillac stealership said there was a national back order. I located it from another stealership, bought it myself and paid less than what the local stealership was going to charge me. If you want your car fixed bad enough, the parts are out there, you have to work for it. Otherwise, sit and wait.

We brought our new car back to the dealer where we bought it from about a year ago. We brought it there because we ran into a serious problem and we assumed it would be covered under the warranty. But, it turns out the dealer said it was our fault and that the warranty and the extended warranty we bought won't cover it either.

We paid about $1,000 out of pocket for them to fix it. However, they did not fix it and when we brought it back to them, they said, oops, we actually need a different part to fix. They said they won't charge us for this different part, but now it turns out that they are having trouble getting this part. It's been several weeks now.

Is there anything we can do? Anyone else we should go to? The issue is that the airbag sensor doesn't work in the front passenger side so it's impacting our ability to use the car, and we need this car. They said the problem was our fault because when they checked to see why the sensor wasn't working, they found a number of items under the seat and they said that caused the sensor wires to break. That could be, but now we're stuck without a car that we can fully use.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to get our car fixed and hopefully not be out too much more money?
