My first mammogram, I was in pain for months. It took me years to get up the nerve to get one again. I've gotten three or four since and I hurt for a few days and then am ok. The first one was diagnostic - I think they took more views. My breasts were sore for weeks and then I had nerve pain in my armpit for months. It eventually got better.

I find the procedure very painful, but no pain the next day. Someone needs to find a less painful way of doing the imaging. Please.

I’ve had many as well. Some painful, some not at all. I have never had lasting pain, though.

I think that’s normal - sometimes - because I’ve had many mammos and have had pain after some but not others. Nothing bad found on the mammos. So I wouldn’t correlate that pain with cancer. It should go away in a few days.

I think they're pretty painful. Make sure you're not having PMS when you have it. My breasts were always tender then to begin with. One upside of menopause is now I don't have to deal with scheduling it around my period.

I have some dull pain for an hour or two after and a lot of redness.

I had my first one a couple of weeks ago. It was totally unremarkable (awkward but not painful) and I couldn't believe I'd put it off so long out of fear.
