I actually think a small pattern is more overwhelming in a powder room since you're so close to it...it doesn't have a chance to fade into the background and could be dizzying. I like both of the ones you posted, but prefer the banana leaf.

we have a similar bathroom. I went dark green including the angled ceiling and love it. No light paint is ever going to make it feel bigger. You can choose to go very basic and Scandinavian-style but it won't make ti look bigger. I chose to lean into the lack of space and make it dramatic.

OP this is maybe similar but a smaller scale pattern which could work better? You’d need a sample though because it’s hard to tell online.

I think bold color is fine and so is wallpapering the ceiling but I agree with your friend about a small/medium scale pattern in a small room. It will still read big.

Please don't listen to your friend! In our last house we did a primarily patterned black wallpaper in our powder room. It is my favorite decorating choice we've ever made and it got tons of compliments.

I prefer the second one of those wallpaper designs.

I think what you're describing is PERFECT for a small powder room--you can google "jewel box powder room" and see more ideas of taking a small space and giving it a whole lot of look.

this is PP who linked the two options I'm considering. I agree. The one wall I'm papering is large enough to accommodate a large pattern - it's a completely blank and open wall right now.

Have fun with your laundry room. You and your family are the only ones who are going to see it so do what makes you happy. I have a very similar laundry room situation as you - small, dark, no window. I plan to add wallpaper, on one wall only. I am very drawn to large, colorful prints and think a bold wallpaper will do a lot to boost the aesthetic of my very boring and small laundry room.

If you go with something dark in a room without a window, make sure the light is bright and warm! I wouldn't mind something colorful with large graphics but I think it depends on the styling of the rest of the house. Do you go for big popping statement patterns elsewhere? Or is everything else delicate florals? Make sure is feels natural walking into the space. Personally, I would probably only do loud paper on one wall (or maybe the ceiling) and paint the others a solid color that vibes with the pattern of the paper.
