Video games, projectiles, running around like an idiot, and destroying the house are inclinations that some of DS’s friends have shown so far… which is fine when the weather is nice. But with the rainy season now that’s why I’m asking! I did recently pick up Jenga because that seems to be a hit.

this thread cracks me up, clearly my 8 year old is typical: legos, minecraft, projectiles, running around like an idiot, and destroying the house are his favorite things.

Nerf guns or any kind of projectiles (like toy bow and arrows) are a hit as well. They can build their own forts with pillows and shoot at each other. Or maybe a dart board or a small foosball table.

My son is a little younger but mostly sports. They play hockey, soccer and catch in our basement. I just insist it stays down there. My oldest is a girl and when neighbors her age come over who are boys they will do similar things, shoot basketballs outside. Stomp rockets are universally popular. Many boys enjoy painting/ pretend store too. Oh and definitely remote control cars though try to pick ones that won’t poke a hole in your wall.

Legos, video games, Pokémon, anything with projectiles, maybe a made up game that involves destroying your house.

Their number one thing is video games, for better or worse. They also like Magnatiles, Legos, and running around like idiots.

DS is 6.5 and beginning to play more with kids his age. Legos are a hit and outdoor toys. What other toys are good for inside (without encouraging a ton of scratches on wood floors or stains to white couches)? I live in a very rainy area so there isn't much outdoor time in the spring.
