This checks. Embarrassed to say I did this to my family growing up. Discovered I could twist the overflow drain so that it was pointing up. Then went about taking baths with an extra 3" of water, until the day there was running out the ceiling bellow.

Unless it absolutely necessary, don’t file home insurance. Don’t even call them to ask. It will be on the record and it will work against you.

Don’t know where to put this question. Bought house in June, kid took bath and water leaked on floor below. Told kid not to over flow tub. It’s been almost a year and each subsequent bath (3 told) it’s done the same. The culprit appears to be the overflow drain. Tonight is last test to determine if it is the regular drain but we shower daily and it doesn’t leak.
Is this my damage to have and to hold or is this a homes ins claim?
