Subject: But why coffee creamer?
I like the flavored creamers that are made with mostly real cream. They add a little bit of sweetness that was a little...softer, maybe? than granulated sugar, plus they blend better than sugar. Sometimes I have a splash of regular cream, instead.
As for the non-dairy creamers, I assume that people either like the flavor or they can't have dairy.

Some people want to disguise the taste of their coffee, which is fine, it does no harm to me. Some of the "healthier" creamers probably don't have quite the same flavor blast.
Personally I drink my morning and afternoon coffee black, but after dinner I typically have a cup with plain half and half or an espresso with whipped cream. I'll only use cream and real sugar in bad diner coffee.

I’m with you OP, that stuff totally grossed me out. I like my coffee very creamy and sweet, but the coffee mates are are SO sweet and strongly flavored. And I can’t get past the fact that it’s basically canola oil and water blended together with fake flavorings. But there are tons of and tons of options at every store, so clearly someone is buying it!

The creamer makes the instant much better, or at least it made it easier to switch.
But really, of all the "fake, processed, gross" stuff people regularly eat and drink...THIS is the one that bothers you that much? That's...weird.
Pretty sure real cream = half and half, found at any grocery store. But I don't care if people use flavored creamers. Apparently there's a market otherwise they wouldn't sell it. I think this is one of those things like anything 'scented' where people who have money swear it's just so artificial and they just can't tolerate it; it's the Princess and the Pea syndrome.

A large portion of the population is actually lactose intolerant to some degree.
I don't want to take lactaid every time I drink coffee, so I use nondairy creamer at home.

I never understood why people use coffee creamers instead of real cream and sugar. Cream doesn’t spoil for weeks if it’s refrigerated, so unless you are avoiding dairy in general, why would you prefer the fake stuff? It just seems so processed and gross to me.
