So do the math - your kid can prob get a B-and still end up with an A because those 100s make a huge difference.

This is false. It averages quality points and always rounds up. Your information hasn’t been accurate for quite some time in DCPS.

Ex:

A, B, B, B+
4.0 +3+3+3.3 =13.3
13.3/4=3.325. And that is an A-. This is where the true grade inflation exists.

I have never heard this before. I’m not saying it’s not true, but every other time I’ve seen this discussed, the consensus is that it’s the average of grade point value (3.3, 3.7, 4.0, etc) for the four terms. Do you work at DCPS?

Yes. It’s not really rounding in the traditional sense. Basically 3.3 is the highest B+, so a 3.35 is an A-.

I haven’t seen anything official but I have a smart ADHD kid whose quarter-by-quarter grades in middle school were pretty inconsistent and this method has always accurately predicted their final grades.

Nobody knows. it's all calculated by Aspen and none of it makes sense

Looking for some advice from more experienced DCPS parents about my kid's grade in a particular class.

Kid is in high school, and got an A in term 1, an A in term 2, and a B+ in term 3.

Can anyone confirm what grade would be needed in term 4 to result in a final grade of an A or an A-?

As I read DCPS's grading policy, I think that as long as my kid gets at least an A- in term 4, the total points for those grades will be 4 + 4 + 3.3 + 3.7 = 15, which averages to a 3.75 which DCPS would round up to a A.

And I think if my kid gets at least a C in term 4, the total points for my kid will be 4 + 4 + 3.3 +2 = 13.3 which averages to a 3.325, which DCPS would up to an A-.

Is that correct?
