Magic Eraser is an abrasive product. I learned a long time ago that it can't be used on anything shiny. However, your floor is going to get scuffs on it over time just from being used as a floor. That's just part of the normal wear and tear that becomes the character of your house. You will get used to it.

But this is flat finished the OP said so I don't know if she'd want to make it shinier because they removed the flat finish right??

If you just need shine, and no color, I’d try Johnson’s Paste wax. It will eventually rub off, but it will help. It’s pretty durable — I once had floors waxed with this instead of polyurethane, and they held up better than poly. When they get scuffed, you just put down another layer of wax.

Maybe one of those floor rejuvenation products. I would spit test but I like the Weiman or Rejuvenate brands.

We’ve all made mistakes like that before!

Magic erasers and permanent markers need to be locked up to protect the surfaces. I would call a flooring store.

I will say some lemon oil over those spots and kind of buffed out has helped with eraser marks on our floor

There were some bad scuff marks and it's what we use on doors and other things. I don't think he was truly thinking.
I get it. It should never be used on hardwood floors. I'm just asking if there is anything anyone else has found that kind of lessons the obviousness of the marks.

Why did he use a magic eraser? That is bizarre.

Okay again, it is really only noticeable in some light. It did not impact the color at all... Just the finish

Yes, we have mapped thoroughly. I think it just took off the top coat so I was thinking maybe a rub on wax or something?
We just had them be done 4 years ago so I really don't want to go through that again. I know it would just be that area but it was quite pricey

Did you mop the area to make sure it’s not just residue?

Who would use a magic erase on a wood floor?

My husband used magic eraser on our light wood flat finish floors and now in the right light we see white scuff marks everywhere. Assuming he took off the finish. There in three spots. Do we need to refinish these or is there something we can do to blend them in better?
