Op here: yes, no major “care” issues. They are a little anxious and do not like staying home alone, which I can understand. Very mild memory issues, as in they might as the same question a couple of times. But no combative issues or anything like that at all. Not a huge fall risk but they do use a cane for stability.

It will be hard to use an agency if you don't need regularly scheduled help. You could try Care.com or something like that. I assume the person is pretty independent and not a fall risk, no diaper changes, etc?

I think it depends on the needs of the elderly. My teenager stays with an elder in our family and does a great job. He’s pick up a job that was similar in the neighborhood. But if someone is combative or incontinent or a flight risk you would want a professional.

Your best bet for that would be through an agency. A few years ago my dad was paying around $30-35/hr for my mom's hourly care.

Is there such a thing? We don’t need regularly scheduled help, but occasionally need someone in the evenings, weekends, or the occasional overnight.
