I usually leave the office at 5 to be home by 6. That’s early for my office - most stay till at least 6

I am home by 4/4:30. DH would get home at 7:30 before kids, but after about a year after the first kid was born changed it to getting home around 6 (other wise would basically not see the kids). Now he mostly works at home.

We both work in the office most of the time.
One spouse works earlier hours, home by 5
One spouse home by 6, 6:30 at worst.

I think it's important for both parents to be home at dinner time most of the time. I regularly have work events in the evening but they are like 1x a month.

Im home by 5. Dh is WFH now but even when not he was home by 4/4:30. Since he does the way early shift. I have q very short commute. One day a week i stay late and work out, do an extra house and have dinner on my own and DH does the whole evening on his own with two kids. Its a nice break for me and good for our preschooler to uncling from me.

I get home at 5PM. My husband is usually home by 6PM. I usually log back in after bedtime.

My office is a ghost town by 4pm. My boss is extremely lax about time in the office. As long as he sees us during core hours he does not care if we leave early. So everyone comes in late and leaves early.

I work from home 4 of 5 days a week, and am able to stop at 5pm. When I'm in the office, I get home at the latest by 6pm. DH owns his own firm and often works from home. His firm partner also has kids and the two of them coordinate schedules to make sure they're home when kids need them, or for activities, etc. Do we sometimes put in 1-3 more hours after the kids are in bed? Yes.

When we were in the office pre-Covid, our nanny's day was done at 5. I did mornings and DH did afternoons and left work around 4:15 to be home by 5 (we have similar jobs and busy schedules but ones that we have much control over). I was usually home by 6. Sometimes we needed to swap and I'd be home by 5 or occasionally we'd have our nanny stay late.

Now our kids are school-age and I mostly WFH, DH back in the office - he picks up kids at extended day at 5:30ish.

I could've written this myself. I find myself resentful that I am able to make it home for the "night shift" as we call it but he seems to miss out on his in-office days.

I would match his home arrival time on the days you are working in office - even if that means going to a workout class, grabbing a drink with a friend, or going the long way home with a coffee and a podcast.

I get home about 4:30 each day, but I bring an additional 3 (or so hours) of work with me. I usually eat / help with homework / visit with family before I get back to it at night.

My DH works four days a week, so 10 hour days. He’s usually home around 6.

My DH leaves at 4:15 and home by 4:30. I WFH and am done around 5:30-6 but log back on after bedtime.

Sometime between 4-4:15 for both of us. Husband works PT and does school pick up by 4pm but leaves work at 2:30 because the beltway in Virginia is so unpredictable. I leave DC at 3:30 and am usually home by 4:15.

Does he get overtime? Sounds like he is just taking a little extra “me” time. You should try it on your work days. Hopefully you each allow time to be alone. Maybe he is decompressing.

What kind of job does he have?
We are a dual Fed household and we put in 8.30 hours each workday, whether we telework or go in. We’re home by 6.30 on our WOH days. Is he in a job where he’s expected to put in long hours?

Both husband and I have a similar commute of about 40 minutes. We work opposite hybrid schedules so he's in the office on days I WFH and vice versa. We both work office jobs with typical hours. We have a toddler and a preschooler.

I'm always home by 6 or 6:30pm on days when I go into the office, often earlier. On his in-office days he does not get home until 7:30pm, when we start the kids' bath time, and sometimes not until 9pm, meaning I do the kids' bath and bedtime routine solo. I want him to come home earlier. He insists working that late is a normal part of DC culture and expected. So, other DC parents of young kids, is that actually normal? What time do you get home in the evening? What do you think is the normal range?
