Your child should do a tryout with the NTG group but should also consider the other programs in the area. Moving in high school isn't fun so consider several options now.

OP, I would def take a look at it. My sense is that most high level groups are a grind and have their pros and cons. I think ASA has pluses and minuses like any program.

I def like the kids in NTG, fwiw. And, I feel like the club gets great results from their swimmers.

As for middle school, I think the program has an excellent age group coach who prepares the kids and who the kids really like. The rule is you need a sectionals cut prior to HS to move to NTG if you are in the ASA age group program and the coach gets kids there. advanced seniors is also a good option and has kids who will swim in college too, fwiw.

Good luck!

Well, both your post and the previous post can't both be true.... if the coach is that bad, the group wouldn't be full w/ a bunch of kids in MS ready to move up so no room for anyone new...

NP, it’s a strange situation. Once you’ve been with a club up until HS it’s hard to switch, so people will put up with a coach that is less than ideal because it’s better than starting over. That said, while ASA has NTG level kids, it’s not so full that it wouldn’t take someone with the required times. A kid with NTG times will find a home at just about any high level club.

OP here- thank you. We’ve got some other options. We’ll keep looking!

I can’t review bc my kid isn’t in HS yet but I get the sense it is full - a lot of middle school kids already in ASA moving up.

I would email to see if there is room.

DC has the times (two sectionals cuts)- ASA seems like a good fit location-wise.

Can anyone comment on the coach/kids? DC us a freshman
