How does a parent who uses a racial slur impact the reputation of MCPS? MCPS has no control over a parents behavior. I fail to see how a school is responsible for a parents behavior.
But MCPS has control over its reaction. They need to ban that team's parents from attending any games the rest of the season for any sport.
I'm sorry but you need to get a grip. While using the N word at a sporting event should not be tolerated (assuming that's what actually happened), banning all parents from all games for all sports for the entire season because the actions of one or a very small number of parents is way over the top. It is also a great way to alienate parents over this issue rather than bring them together. Banning that parent or parents is on the other hand the reaction of a reasonable person.
Bam the parents that said it? Absolutely. Not the entire team but any parents telling any slurs should have a full ban and their student suspended 3 games MINIMUM. These are adults and it is kids sports for God’s sake. It’s disgusting.

Anonymous wrote:MCPS did very little when there was that girls soccer harassment against the Asian American player and then followed by a second anti-Asian incident. The school district did so little that I still regularly hear anti-Asian epithets during MCPS games but everyone just ignores it and I've wondered if it's because they think it's okay to pick on Asians but not anyone else or if this is just a broader issue.
Wonder how they will react in this case. I hope they step up their response.

If they were indeed Poolesville fans, and worse, adults, then the team should have to forfeit its game. That should be standard for any game, anywhere.
What should they do, send the parents to detention? Punish the whole team because of a parent?
