It's not too late, and it's the perfect time to reserve an onsite DVC villa for early November by renting points through Davids (
https://dvcrequest.com) or the DVC store (
https://dvcrentalstore.com/guests/availability/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6Mqz_eW4_gIVDPvjBx35OgM7EAAYASAAEgJbfPD_BwE). I know you said you don't have to stay onsite, but it would greatly enhance your trip and the villas give you a lot more space. The only catch is you need to get CFAR trip insurance because these are not refundable. You could also book a room directly through Disney if you don't feel you need the space. The refund policy will be more flexible, but it's different if you get a "package" vs room only. Since you have tickets, you would probably want room only.
You do have some things to get updated on, but it's certainly doable by November. And usually the weather is great then (a rare November hurricane notwithstanding).
