But do you get health benefits in that case?

Yes.

Mine offered it twice about 10-15 years ago.

I’ve got about 10 years left until I hit MRA/30 but I want out. I just don’t know if leaving with ten to go is cutting off my nose to spite my face, so to speak. I’m in a high demand specialty and work all the time/at all hours as it is, so I’m not really worried about that trade. I want the FEHB and to retire “earlier” that 65 to pursue other things..but ten years is feeling a looooong time.

Something like 1/3 of feds are eligible to retire— they aren’t ever going to offer a VERA and I think they are scared to offer a VSIP.

A VERA is my dream so I can retire with health insurance. Sadly that is not to be.

No VERA last 20 years or longer. We are still in hiring mode. Not downsizing mode.

Has your agency done one recently? Is there any way to predict or get a sense of whether one is likely in the near (5 year or less) future? I understand that if you take a VERA, you can take the immediate annuity and this the FEHB (even before your MRA, so long as you met the other requirements). Is this correct?
