That's false! A lot of the kids at our center got in on appeal. It's really common these days.

That's false! A lot of the kids at our center got in on appeal. It's really common these days.

One more thing. 2 of the kids did not take SAT/ACT including mine. Not sure about 1 kid, but 1 kid did take SAT.
Limited sample size but I am guessing SAT scores are not that important.

Is it for the class of 2025? How many kids they take?
How do the kids do (academic and clubs) compared with the peers entering as Freshman?
Are they all from the same school? You mind sharing the school?
Yes. I was surprised to find out that they are allowed to take as many kids as they deem merit admission. Obviously that does not mean there is no limit but it is not based on the number of dropouts.
I cannot share the school as DC is one of two children from our HS. Other 2 kids where from two different HS that I know because we competed with them and know they are exceptionally good students. I was shocked when they did not get in and happy that all 3 got in the sophomore round.
Teacher recommendations are a big deal. I got emails from 2 of DC's teachers during 9th grade appreciating how much they enjoy having DC is their class. Needless to say we asked for their recommendation along with one other teacher.
I would say just focus on 9th grade, do well, ignore the noise.

Not PP, but they number of froshmores really depends on the number of dropouts. If your kid crushes the SATs that will really help.

There is no mechanism to appeal regarding the freshmen round of TJ admissions. They would get crushed with such applications.
As the previous poster mentioned, hang in there until sophomore round and then make sure you don't miss your deadlines.
There is an appeals process listed on the website.

There is no mechanism to appeal regarding the freshmen round of TJ admissions. They would get crushed with such applications.

If you child deserved to be at TJ, they would get in through the sophomore admissions process. It is actually a much better process where actual TJ teachers are making the decisions.
DC got in that way and we know of 3 other children who I knew for a long time. They did not get in the freshman round but all got in the sophomore round.

How about some achievements that happened between the application submission and now, say winning a national science fair?
