other than local resorts we have only been to Vail, Keystone and Breckenridge. Of the three we all prefer Breckenridge; tons of varying terrain and a great unique town. We like skiing Vail and Keystone but the manmade villages have no personality.

Enjoy many of these while you can. With global warming, many of these will not be sustainable due shorter/inconsistent seasons and in just a short couple of decades, will no longer be in operation.

Also White Grass. May be my favorite place on earth, and I have traveled a decent amount.
For big resorts... Beaver Creek for luxury. Any of the LCC/BCC resorts for terrain. Snowbird is probably my favorite.

Vail- pretty much everything about it except for getting there/back to the airport. Amazing terrain, great instructors, shopping, food, no need to drive anywhere. Bus system between the two sides of the resort.

I’ve only skied the big resorts with kids and we’ve been to a lot of them. We love beaver creek. Small resort, family friendly terrain, upscale accommodations, candy cabin and fresh cookies for the kids. DH loves the advanced terrain at crested butte.

A 3rd vote for Alta. Was just there 2 weeks ago after a couple days at Deer Valley and reminded of how much I like the skiing and the vibe. Much as I like luxury, there is something comforting about the Goldminers base area.
2nd favorite is Jackson Hole. 3rd is probably Aspen - combination of luxury and challenging skiing, but travel in/out can be unreliable.
Just renewed my Ikon Pass for next year.

My favorite is also Alta- you cannot beat the terrain, conditions, and the culture (and no snowboarders!!!). But to your point, it’s not the most family friendly destination. I prefer park city/the canyons for all around vacation.

What’s your all around favorite ski resort and why? Great terrain? Good crowd management? Nice lodging? Good apres/food scene? Reliable snow?
My favorite is Alta in terms of terrain and snow. But for a family friendly option with good slopeside lodging and food options and just all around awesome place, it’s probably Steamboat.
