There's been a lot of misinformation posted here to get people to drop out so maybe we can expect some waitlist movement.

My freshman kid had a friend get in off the waitlist last summer. Frost middle school.

Last year was different. There was a question in the application about free meals which some answered yes incorrectly or accidentally. Those who could not prove were mostly removed and kids in waitlist made in.

accidentally *wink* *wink*[/quote

There is nothing wink wink about it. Students were eligible for free meals, and were getting free meals at school. Not all parents would be aware of the intricacies of FARMS, and this wasn't what was asked. I once signed my school up for Title 1 discount accidentally, because I thought Title 1 meant public school.

+1
The question literally said if you were eligible for free meals that year or maybe had you gotten free meals that year. 100% of kids were eligible that year and many got them too. We paused on this question since answering it truthfully would be saying yes to those questions. But instead we answered it according to what we figured they really meant. How they handled that was the fault of whoever wrote those questions in a year when all kids got free lunch.

“Mostly” is not correct. I know of 4 families who did this. They had no proof, said it was an accident, and the admission acceptance stood.

If you write a lot of posts, that claim TJ is in decline and it's no longer worth it maybe you can convince some others to drop out.

Very small. I know some kids who declined last year, so there will be some movement.
Someone on here posted about being on the AOS waitlist, and they will take that over T

My DD was waitpooled last year and got in in late June. She declined and is happy at her area high school.

I think if your child doesn't move off the waitlist by mid May it is over.

One of my son's friends was wait-listed and got in. All depends on the number of kids who decline.

Honest answer: it's hard to estimate what the number of students will be this year who decline their offer. This is the first year that the new admissions process will take place in a relatively normal TJ admissions timeline, given that the last two years were needlessly delayed by the fruitless Coalition litigation that did nothing but make life harder for TJ administrators.

One would imagine that the number of declined offers will be smaller because fewer students will have already committed to other schools, but we can't know for sure.

It appears that the waitpool for the past two years has been huge... in the neighborhood of 1000. There's no information on how large the waitpool is this year, but it's fair to assume that the chances of getting off of it, while not impossible, are pretty small.
