For pots on my front steps, I love angelonia. I'm also a fan of zinnias - so cheerful! - and cosmos. I'd love to do sunflowers, but the squirrels devour them.

Nicotiana -- because they smell so incredible.

Cosmos -- they look so beautiful in the wind and they attract butterflies like mad.

bachelor buttons -- super easy to grow -- a are blue flower--great cut flower

Zinnias, nasturtiums, cosmos and orlaya. I do those from seed; I’m trying to remember what I like to buy - alyssum in a big flat.

Ooh chocolate cosmos if you can find them. They can be grown from seed, but I think they take a while (they develop a tuber that can be saved from year to year) so just buy the plant.

Salvias, cupheas and annual vines: cardinal climber and Spanish flag.
They look beautiful and hummingbirds go crazy for them.

I like flats of vinca (the annual) and salvia. Both do best with some partial shade in the afternoon.

Zinnias, cosmos and sunflowers are great and easy to grow from seed directly.

Just wondering what everyone’s favorite. I am new to gardening and would like to decorate my front lawn but not sure which to buy for the local area. Thanks!
