WPI has a very different academic program - 7 week terms, project based learning, etc. Tends to place quite well in the job market within New England anyway. If all that is good with you and the money's right, I'd go with WPI. If not that, Northeastern.

Op here- also, I should have mentioned that WPI offered significantly more merit than the others (so we would save some money), but we can afford all without loans.

This matters, apparently advanced classes not offered outside Boston, and some sequences require fall start which hurts those coming in with AP credit.

No- global scholars but dc doesn’t have a lot of APs anyway

I have a family member who lives in New England and very interested in computer science. WPI was far and away his first choice but he was not admitted. NE was second choice and he was admitted. So I would say one, two for those two.

WPI project-based work model gets excellent reviews from students.

I've been a NEU basher on some of these threads, and I would say NEU in this case. They have a very good CS program.

Different schools--which vibe does he like?
Does he want urban--then BU or NEU or GW.
Does he want coop--NEU.
Does he want 7 week terms--WPI. (take 3 classes per term, 4 terms a year).
If he has a lot of AP credit, there is a good possibility at WPI to graduate in 4 years with a BS/MS, including one term abroad for an interdisciplinary project.
Did you attend accepted student days at all?

Northeastern, without a doubt.

My kid applied to all for CS, except GW. He really like GW but didn’t apply because he already had better ranked options by the RD date. I would put it at the bottom of this list for CS.

DC ultimately didn’t consider WPI even though they gave him nice merit. For him, it was because he wanted to be in a city. I know kids that are happy at WPI and do well. Need to be prepared for the quarters system or whatever they have. Some kids like it but should consider it going in.

DC got into both BU and Northeastern through alternative pathways first year. He likes CS at Northeastern and the potential for coops. He likes that CS is in its own school.

BU CS is in arts and science with I think more gen Ed classes.

Personally, I prefer Northeastern’s campus over BU. That is just opinion. But, that new computing building at BU looks pretty cool!

Congratulations to your son on having these choices. Really can’t go wrong!

OP: presuming you are not the Northeastern troll, be prepared for the Northeastern troll. He does not have a lot going on in his life, sadly.
In order of strong programs for CS - NOTE: I am not familiar with WPI, but I am familiar with the other (3) - so you will have to do you own research:

Northeastern

GW

BU

Hard to offer advice without knowing more about what he values.

If he wants co-op, then Northeastern. If not, then BU. (Sorry, just my own personal gut feeling on this group of choices.)
