However, even without a placement change, you still want want to get the IEP process started as soon as you have a home school.

You should join the GTLD Network (for parents of mcps GTLD kids) and pose your questions there, more specifically in terms of grade and specific school she would likely attend.

But I believe the process would be that you enroll in your home school, ask for an IEP meeting and ask during that meeting for her to be placed into the GTLD program. There’s definitely time to get that done before school starts in the fall.

I read about it here and then read the MoCo website. It looks like my daughter would qualify. We would be moving from Fairfax. Does anyone know if she could be found eligible over the summer and then move straight into the MoCo program, or would she need to go into a gen Ed classroom first? If you have experience with this program, please tell me how it’s worked for your child. DD has autism, ADHD, anxiety and is gifted.
