Notch below, because the food and pan have some depth to them

I have a new GE Cafe oven (it’s actually a double oven, but this same issue applies to both). It has 5 notches for adjusting the oven racks, but none are in the exact middle of the oven which is frustrating. When a recipe calls for cooking at the middle rack height, would you pick a botch up or below the middle? Thanks.
