I am guessing the committee looked at his application and said that he could be served well with gen ed language arts and advanced math. Should I do a WISC? I plan to include a writing sample he did that was really good, I held it back in case I needed to appeal. The work samples the school submitted were not great, in my opinion. AART encouraged me to appeal. This is the first time I am going through this, any advice would be helpful! Thanks!
Is your kid in the highest reading group? Are the verbal and iready reading scores reasonably reflective of your kid's ability? I wouldn't push a kid into AAP if they're not strong enough in the verbal areas to handle it.
The CogAT verbal part is odd and can lead to low scores since some kids are very thrown off by the pictures and how to interpret them. If your kid is otherwise advanced in verbal abilities, they might get a much higher score on WISC VCI. If your child is at best above average in verbal, the WISC will reflect that.
