If you don't mind going to a remote part of Maine, you could be there in half a day from DCA or IAD. Fly to Portland or Bangor, rent a car, and if you stay away from most of the coast you could get something very nice for that price.

Seems like not much of a budget...

I had good luck the last two years in Chicago and upstate New York- I think Chicago can be hot and humid but it was cool and beautiful when we were there

Deep creek MD.

But 250/night is going to be tough and will preclude most of the places people have already posted.

Just go out to Davis, WV. Elevation is enough to be a lot cooler. Nice area to go for a few days.

Park City, UT - very dry there. Or any western ski resort that isn’t also a big summer destination (so avoid Jackson Hole, lake Louise, maybe Sun valley). There are deals in summer and they are lower key.

I'm fairly wide open and want some ideas to escape the swamp DC weather in July or August.

Musts:
- low/no humidity, ideally not hotter than 75-80 degrees in daytime
- In the US or Canada
- I want a view of something serene. Lake, mountain, nature.
- Don't want to spend more than $250/night for 5 nights
- Don't mind renting a car and driving myself around
- Don't care if it's an airbnb or hotel, but I'm also capable of taking care of myself (don't need amenities, etc)
- Needs to be approachable from an airport (I'll fly out of National or Dulles)

Where should I go?
