I use Aveda blue.

Blue Malva works really well. Btw it’s actually dark purple out of the bottle but doesn’t stain your hands.

This does nothing for grays.

I’m not concerned about the grays, just the brass.

Thanks everyone! I’ll look up some of these shampoos. My scalp is and always has been pretty jacked so I’ve avoided dye and toners. OP.

Your grays being yellowed can make your hair look dull. Find something that can address both.

I dye mine light brown and purple makes a difference preventing brassiness. Not sure if it would correct already brassy hair though.

Supposedly blue is better to counteract brassy tones in brunette hair. Fanola makes one called "No Orange." (I am blonde and use their purple).

Try a blue shampoo. Blue gets rid of orange like purple gets rid of yellow. I use one by Matrix but there are other brands.

I was speaking to the brassy brown hair issue only.

The one I used did. I have grays & auburn hair that gets super brassy and it made my grays bright and toned out the orange. Be forewarned though, the scent is pretty pronounced if you are scent sensitive.

I used this

They’re always targeted to people with blond hair, but my (undyed) hair goes from a deep cool brown (streaked with silver!) to brassy brown to almost red at the ends. It’s all me and my hard water and sun damaged hair color. I don’t love it.
