It's the month for spring break for various schools. It could be that the people making this decision are:

-on private school break with their families
-need to finish up the interview process for candidates
-waiting for the project they have in mind for that role to commence
-still piecing the team together internally
-on public school break with their families
-on college break with their families

OP, it's driving me crazy too because I'm also waiting to hear. Because I have kids, I'm aware that the break schedule can throw everything into delay and this was confirmed by the HR department as well.

A lot of negative Nancys on this forum, and they may be right, but they may not.

As someone who’s been hiring a lot recently, I can only add that hiring comes *on top* of the 100 things one has to do in a day and there’s always a budget or HR snag that needs to be worked out, each little task delaying the next..

Hang in there, don’t put all of your eggs in this basket, and be proud of the fact that you were a top choice.

This has happened to me many times (always the bridesmaid, never the bride!). Hey, coming in second is nothing to sneeze at and it should add to your self confidence that they had a tough choice.

This happened to me also with a govt job, and I got the offer. Govt is just slow. I did eventually reach out to them because I got a competing offer, and that seemed to make the bureaucracy move things along to get an official offer to me.

If it is the federal government it can take weeks to make the selection and have HR do the correct paperwork. I would reach out them at week 3 even though I have seen it take even longer than that.

I think after two weeks you could reach out to the hiring manager and ask to confirm what the timeline was and/or whether something got caught in a spam filter and/or whether they need anything else from you. I recently followed up with a hiring manager regarding some unexpected radio silence and it turned out there had been a spam folder snafu with one of my references. I'm really hoping it doesn't reflect too badly on me...

I'm in the same position. I keep checking my email, assuming that if they were making an offer they would have called. It's weird, isn't it? I assume I was the second choice.

Had a final interview two weeks ago and the hiring manager said they wanted to make an offer that week. I haven't heard anything since then so I guess maybe that's it? As I was leaving though, they did say multiple times "we'll reach out soon," enthusiastically. It was a government interview, so I wonder if there's just more bureaucracy that may be slowing things down? Or maybe they made an offer to someone else and they're waiting for that person to accept? Just wondering if it's common to just not hear anything at all. Am I just waiting on a rejection email at this point? Thanks for any advice.
