We had a bad experience and left the school last year. We requested access to the school's mental health support system for our child. The principal and teacher denied our request and instead punished our child and made the situation worse. It was definitely not a warm and caring environment of treating "every child by name and by need" as claimed by the FCPS superintendent and school board.

Yes, but fewer tiger parents/excessively tutored children means a less stressful environment for all children.

The principal of Lemon Road was an AP at Shrevewood for a year and was wonderful. We debated following her once she left.

Recognize that the school is a split feeder unlike the other ESs that send the AAP kids there.

Strong principal and community. Diverse student population. Our experience has been in the general ed classroom. It’s been positive. The school is not referenced on the site often, which I find to be telling. Most families are content. If you are considering a home zoned for the school, I think you’ll be pleased!

That depends. If you have two classes of 18 kids, losing 6 kids would mean losing a Teacher. If you have two classes of 25 kids, losing 6 kids means smaller classes and not losing a Teacher. Most schools have classes in the 20 kid range so losing some kids to the Center should not hurt the class size enough to cost the school a Teacher.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. Sometimes it ends up being a split -- like one class of 4th and a split 3rd/4th.

That depends. If you have two classes of 18 kids, losing 6 kids would mean losing a Teacher. If you have two classes of 25 kids, losing 6 kids means smaller classes and not losing a Teacher. The people I know at LR really like it. The only negative thing I've heard is that my friend's daughter is general ed and her friends from last year that are in AAP now have stopped talking to her, even though they all play sports together. I hear this is a trend across AAP Centers, and not just this one school.

Wonderful school with a fantastic PTA. You can usually gauge how happy the teachers and parents are by how involved the PTA is.
