As an alum of a W school, I laugh when I see these threads. The fact that we can even have these threads shows so much privilege. Regardless of where the kid goes, if they have educated parents and apply themselves, they’ll get into a great school - see the book “where you go is not who you are” by Frank Bruni.

There are way more great schools for their interest than the same top tier ones. If they get one, great, if not, it’s not something to frame the entire High School experience around. Every year, the parents get way more stressed than the kids, but they pass it on to them and that combined with the culture of people flexing where they want to apply to is part of what’s causing this pervasive mental health crisis among teenagers. It always works out at the end of the day.

Because colleges discriminate against white and asians, which is a high percentage of Wootton.

IB and Magnet programs will get into great schools. So will schools that have diversity, hence BCC better than Whitman.

Every college has a numbers game it needs to fill based on sex, color, where you live in the county, etc.... We have friends that moved to North Dakota the last two years during Covid. Definitely helped with college admissions being a minority (not black) in a state full of whites that barely apply to colleges out of the area. It was win during Covid but I can't imagine doing that now. It's crazy playing the college game. Just go to JUCO for 2 years, get A's, and get into any college you want.

Forgot about RMIB -- they seem to be on the level of Blair re: top tier, give or take. Poolesville and other HSs not listed. So from the HSs that are listed, #1 BCC, #2 RMIB and Blair magnet.

At the Ws, it looks to me that there will be a couple standouts who get accepted to most top tier, and that's about it.

BCC did excellently. Better than it's Whitman rival!

I seem to remember this being published somewhere last year. Was it only where the kids were going or all admissions? Any idea when it will come out this year? Thanks!
