OP, I started with Calibrate but I don't recommend them, especially because you may need additional medical management depending on whether you have any other medical conditions.

I agree that health insurance is a separate question from online services. It's worthwhile asking your HR or finding out from your insurance company's prescription plans which meds are and aren't covered for obesity.

Online services can send bloodwork orders, etc. but again it may be best to have someone you can really build a relationship with, particularly if there's anything else going on.

All of these are telehealth options that will prescribe. Insurance coverage is another issue unless you pay cash. These medicines are all $1000 + a month.

Enbold is $100/month for the consultation and prescriptions, I believe the others are similarly priced.

My PCP suggested Mounjaro and manages my prescriptions.

Have you actually tried making an appointment with an endocrinologist?

OP just ask your PCP. If your insurance won’t cover it, there’s nothing magic the telehealth people can do.

If you are paying cash and you want it compounded instead of the brand name, then you are getting into a kind of sketchy zone and idk how to tell what’s legit and what’s not. I understand that because of low supply, pharmacies are allowed to compound some of them but I don’t know the details and there is sure to be snake oil out there. Maybe at least start with the real thing.

My PCP prescribed the meds (Wegovy), and fortunately our insurance covers it. If your insurance does not cover it, you can get a coupon online that will.

Are any of these better or worse than the others if what I am essentially looking for is a prescription? Pretty straightforward seeming given my body mass. Or is there something else I need to look out for?

It’s not that they won’t take your insurance. It’s that your insurance won’t work with Calibrate.

Why not go to a regular doctor?

I am seriously overweight (BMI 35+). I would like to use an online plan to help with weigh loss that includes medication.

Should I be worried about scammy services?

I looked at Calibrate and they have confirmed they will not take my insurance.
