Ours is doing a day cruise, a carnival and the ceremony. The cruise costs nearly $80.00 I doubt all schools have enough parents who would pay for these events, just for their DC to move from one grade to another. It's not affordable to many families.
It would be ok if the PTA contributed to families who need help but I wouldn't pay $80 for a dinner cruise for my kid.

I haven’t heard anything from our middle school but I assume they will be doing something. They did last year.

Hershey Park, a social gathering/ dance and a promotion ceremony just for students and staff due to the size of the venue and not live streamed. Families will receive a commemorative video after.

It's funny where I grew up - 8th grade was a full on cap and gown graduation, school dance, a trip to Dorney Park, and an optional 2 night 3 day trip to DC ironically LOL.
But in 5th grade was absolutely nothing. Around here they make 5th grade a bigger deal.
Our school is doing a dance, a ceremony, and a trip to Adventure Park which I think is a complete waste of time. My kid is jealous of the kids going to King's Dominion.

Varies by school. Ours did a trip to an amusement park. Then there was the promotion ceremony. Personally I don’t see why anything needs to be done beyond maybe a dance and promotion ceremony.

It really seems to vary by school and I am curious if this has to do with funding or the principal/teachers.
