It is the individual driver. They are grinding away, driving like a maniac, and not treating people the way they want to be treated. I look how the door opens. Does it open out, is there a small table or railing close so no one has to bend down.

I do the same. I tip a minimum of $5 even on neighborhood deliveries, and I increase the tip commensurate with the distance the driver has to travel, but the driver isn’t doing twice as much work for an $80 order than a $40 order. I also tip extra if the weather is nasty.

DoorDash includes the tip in the offer but you don’t know how much until after the delivery. I know the base pay they pay so I decline low paying orders or orders where I won’t make close to $2 a Mile.

UberEats pays more but DoorDash is aligned with more restaurants in my area than Uber.

Really?! There goes my theory that a hefty tip = faster service. I’ll still leave hefty tips, because I appreciate you bringing me food.

That thinking is off to me. I can get a $60 steak or eat $60 worth of food at a more casual restaurant with drinks, appetizers and dessert.

There is a program where you can earn free dash pass which is basically no delivery fees.

There are no employees but those who accept the most orders and have a high delivery completion and on time delivery and high rating get offered the orders first.

I’ve learned not to pick up orders at restaurants that keep me waiting more than five minutes. My expected delivery time changes based on my wait time. I’m thankful DoorDash doesn’t allow you to remove your tips especially for things out of your control.

Also. It is so important for you to have your house number clearly marked not only for delivery as well as for emergency services.

I never think I’m entitled to tips but I am performing a service so you don’t have to pack up the kids, get out in traffic, unpack the kids, go into the restaurant or wait in a driver thru.

I leave a card with every order thanking them and encourage them to leave a rating and feedback.

How is going so far? What do you consider a reasonable tip? How many jerks have not tipped you at all?
