MoCo has entered the spiral down. People with means are fleeing, so how do think the county is going to try to keep the budget from blowing out? After County Exec Elrich posted a tweet saying the population is actually growing, we decided to take a closer look at the population trends in Montgomery County, Frederick County and the state with full charts based on actual U.S. Census data.

"Yes, Montgomery County population has shrank over the last 3 years and Frederick County has had tremendous growth.

I thought about moving to Frederick when I retire only because the housing is cheaper.

Us too, we ended up moving to eastern MoCo because it's cheaper!

I have friends that live in Frederick, and it's a cute and charming place to visit. I could never live there, though, I'm black, and for a time I lived in mostly white neighborhoods as a kid. Would never do that to my own kids.

Elrich has yet again built the recommended budget on a house of cards. It is completely unsustainable. The Council will have to make some massive cuts to get it back under control. But I have no idea if this new Council has the temerity to do so.

Yup. We are taking our 300k HHI and are tired in living in Silver Spring where shootings take place once every two weeks and are moving to FredCo later this spring.
MoCo would have been better for our commutes, but PPs are right that we can’t afford the only areas with decent schools in MoCo, and event decent middling schools such as Quince Orchard are sliding very fast.

I just worry that people moving to MoCo will bring their ultra progressive policies. FredCo is currently moderate, just as we like it.
