At the same time, I'd try to embrace your choice number two at this point for your child's sake. He/her/they may embrace the school more if you seem enthusiastic. In other posts on DCUM I've read that Sidwell contracts were due at 9:00 on the 17th and waitlist spots offered at 9:15 sharp...
Again fingers crossed; You never know maybe a family will suddenly need to move to some other state or something..

If you search Niche for private K-12 schools period (not Christian) they are 14th. Still very good but funny how niche has a ranking for every claim.
