Our school has an Alt class that kids with 504s can take. Really I don’t think nine is getting much out of it. The teacher reminds him of overdue assignments and will sometimes reach out to the other teachers for clarification but it seems that most of her time is spent on kids that are pretty disruptive and doing pretty poorly in their courses. But it does get you out of one class so if you feel like just having one less class, and one more hour to do homework would help, it achieves that.

At my child’s school, the only difference between resource class was students with 504 plans vs IEP’s. In fact, I think my child with a 504 was mixed in with kids with IEP’s and the class was taught by a SPED teacher. But I don’t know if that’s unusual.

Spinoff from another thread - do all MCPS middle schools offer a Related Studies course to help kids with 504 plans and exeuctive function deficits develop organizational skills? How is this course different from the Resource class, and how are kids placed in Related Studies? TIA.
