Langley HS is a much better choice, IMHO. Langley is either under capacity or near capacity with new facilities while McLean is over capacity with much older facilities. Believe it or not, there are multiple trailers at McLean HS and they will be there for a VERY LONG TIME. I just don't see it changing anytime soon.
There’s more to a school than its building. We don’t regret picking McLean over Langley.

There are also a fair number of kids who attend K-8 private or parochial schools but who go to public high schools in FCPS like McLean for 9-12.
Tons of activities there. PP mentioned band/orchestra/theatre but there are also sports (and a crew team that attracts a fair number of freshmen).

There is enough in and out in this area that he will be able to make friends even though only Longfellow feeds into McLean. Students are used to the churn. Plus, McLean is big enough that no one knows everyone in the classroom. I would recommend a sport or band/orchestra/theatre as a place to start for him.
