2 students got in an argument. One pulled out a knife and tried to stab the other student. That student then walked away with the knife, hence the shelter in place. Student was not actually stabbed luckily. He was protected by his backpack.

OP here, not a woman and also not a Potomac parent. My kids go to DCC schools.
That's funny. Often when I post, I've been accused of being a Takoma Park parent, which I'm not. The local stereotypes are hilarious
Incredibly. The assumption is that anyone who demands accountability, transparency, communication and consequences from MCPS is a white Potomac mom. As a POC, DCC dad, it goes against DCUM's script that I'd value and want those things for my kids.

+1. If there was a weapon, they would have gone into lockdown, not shelter in place.
