I do think people attend for strong academics and parents expect academic rigor. Jesuits are known for being excellent educators.

I don't think anyone was looking at Holy Trinity because of academic rigor in the first place. There are many other strengths of the school that you won't find elsewhere, though! Including a strong faith-based education, community, and a focus on social justice. That's why we are there. That should be a sign to the parents that it might not be the right school. They try to serve everyone but it’s a small Catholic school that cannot really handle learning differences. Being required to go to an outside tutor probably means next step is being counseled out because this is not common at all.

OP, are you saying that kids there in K/1 need tutoring in later years? Or that parents are hiring tutors for their Kindergartners (and if so, what are these tutors doing for 5 year olds that the parents can’t do?)

Some parents of struggling kids prefer to blame the school and teachers when there are obvious (to everyone but them) learning, behavioral, and other issues. If anything, the school lets some kids stay too long even when it’s clear the school can’t meet the child’s needs.
