You do realize that "voting twice" nearly never happens and that most instances of voter fraud in recent years were committed by Republicans, including former WH COS/House member Mark Meadows.

Sounds like a solution in search of a problem. Typical of Republican efforts at disenfranchisement, which are all attributed to phantom menaces like fraud and dead people voting.

I lived in my home state for 2 months in freshman year and then for 1-2 weeks over winter break. Aside, I stayed in the state where my college was located year-round because I got jobs/internships. I was way more invested in the state where my college was located. I had no idea what was happening back home when it came to local elections.

Just saying.


I always kept up with what was going on at home and also knew and understood the history of events there, so I was always very well informed about who was running for local offices and who I supported. Did not have the same depth of knowledge about my college town.

That "must have" varies by state. Just so YK if YDK, some states allow a gun license as proof of ID, not a student ID. I'm sure this is not extended to beauticians and other stylists.

That’s what I always did in college. It was easier to keep the same registration, and that was my home of record anyway.

It helped me out when I was in grad school and had to file an appeal to get the in state tuition rate. Keeping my voting registration at my home address in college helped to show my intent to remain a state resident and my in state tuition was approved. Saved me thousands of dollars.


That's great and perhaps something for people to consider if they are mulling grad degrees in their home states, but states shouldn't deny students the ability to vote simply because they fear the political party who might win.

Several Republican controlled state legislatures are trying to limit college students’ right to vote by enacting/trying to enact laws that don’t recognize college issued student ID cards for voting purposes. In light of this and increased restrictions on abortions, should out of state parents and students opt out of colleges in such states?
