But I think it is important to know that these were not just "right-wing personalities". Chaya Raichik is the person behind LibsofTiktok and Jack Posobiec was one of the main proponents of PizzaGate. Both have been linked to acts of violence. In Posobiec's case, it was just up the street from the library. I find it interesting that the Ward 2 Chair of the DC GOP apparently reserved the room for this group.

They're awful people, no doubt. Also relevant, at one of the prior two events, the library received bomb threats and these trolls got the library director fired.

It could be defensible to cancel the event out of concern for community safety and disrupting the library.
PP/OP. Part of my discomfort here is that, while there may be a good non-speech justification for cancelling the event—maybe there is, we don't know!—that's clearly not the primary justification for the activists. The criticism and self-congratulation is all about disagreement with (very offensive) speech.

Last time she flipped the bird to her constituents. This time she flipped the bird to the First Amendment?

Local progressive activists, including an ANC rep, clued in and got the event canceled.

What do people think about this?
I find the organizers abhorrent, and I hope they'd find no audience in DC for their vile and trollish event. If they broke the library rules about what types of events are allowed, like by planning a commercial activity, I have no hesitation about canceling the event. But I'm very uncomfortable with all the self-congratulation, especially from an elected rep, about having an event canceled in a public space because of disagreement with speech.
