Yes - it will give you more accurate info about your child. And yes, I think there are many kids who score 130+ on the cogat that would score around 120 on a WISC.

Yes it's possible and yes you'll get new information. Even if the FSIQ is the same, you'll have subscores including scores for working memory and processing speed, and both an FSIQ and a GAI.

1. Depends on the baseline cognitive level and the amount of time spent practicing, assuming the kid is motivated to learning the techniques. Under the right conditions a good tutor can turn a lump of coal into a diamond. But nobody can turn a frog into a diamond.

2. It's impossible to figure out how much of the tail end is fattened because of prepping. Some areas might just attract a smart adults who have smart kids. Almost nobody who preps will admit to it non-anonymously.

SAT was originally conceived as an IQ test but was found to be highly trainable as well.

It’s not that shocking for a kid to have 132+ CogAT and 120 WISC. CogAT has a very low ceiling, and a few lucky guesses can make a huge difference. Many WISC sections are not multiple choice, so the kid has to know the answer.

The NNAT and CoGAT are less precise then the WiSC. It could be that a kid guessed on the NNAT and CoGAT and ended up with a higher score then a WiSC just as easily as a kid guessed and ended up with a lower NNAT or CoGAT score then a WiSC score.

What purpose does it serve to pursue this? We’re getting a wisc to apply to private school. I wouldn’t do it just to see if I can be shocked by different scores in my sample of 1.
