You can’t do that. They need to be built to support the weight of all that comes with a screened in deck. Not a chance your current deck was “overbuilt” with a future porch in mind.

Also very expensive as the supports most likely cannot support thee weight of a roof.

I also don’t know why people aren’t using prefab for this.

I'm so sorry to burst your bubble, OP, but this will cost you $75K for the most basic screened in porch and $100K for something nice.

Sorry, not even close to $25k. Ours is about 250sf, on grade, and cost $65k two years ago. Skylights and ceiling fans, but no fireplace, heating elements or Sunspace windows. Fwiw I was shocked at the price but everything I found here and elsewhere seems to suggest that screen porches are more expensive than it might seem, for the reasons that the PP explained.

Whatever you think it should be, multiply that by 4.

lol - no, not for $25k. Ours is no frills in that we don't have a fireplace or anything, usr a slate floor andnwalls. We did spring for gabled roof over shed rood (shed roof is a little bit less expensive). It was $70k

It's like a real addition: dig foundation, put rebar and cement and whatever else, footings, pilings, attach to house in a way that doesn't screw up your foundation as far as water/drainage.

We paid $80k last year. I think it’s 20x30.

Mine was about $45k but that was over a decade ago so not a valid comparison. I'm only chiming in to say that we debated at the time whether it was worth it and are now so glad that we did it because we get a lot of use out of it.

Thanks, I appreciate your response. Ours would be at ground level.

What size porch was your quote for?

Debating adding a no-frills screened-in porch off back of house on area that is currently a flat flower bed (no overlying roof).
Thinking 200sqft and we’re in NoVa.

Possible to do this for under 25k? Anybody have recent cost data points they’d be willing to share? Recommended companies?
