I tried Contrave, but it gave me anxiety.

Qsymia did not work for me. I felt tired and foggy. I've been on Wegovy for almost exactly a year. I've lost 85 pounds. I gained most of my weight after having kids and being on SSRI's.

My wife just started on contrave about 2 weeks ago. She had some mild insomnia for about a week that coincided with starting the medication. There don't seem to be any other side effects for her to speak of.

For the PP who lost 40 pounds on Qsymia, wow! I know this is an old thread but my PCP just started me on it. I am excited.

I have tried GLP-1s and did nothing but give me indigestion. How come my DR does not prescribe or even speak of Qsymia or Contrave to me?

NP here but curious why you would do gastrosleeve instead of wegovy? I assumed these new GLP-1 drugs were going to put the bariatric surgeons out of business. I am asking with no judgment, just curiosity of the pros/cons

DP. Not everyone can tolerate the GLP-1 drugs. Some people have severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting that makes staying on them just miserable. And some people would prefer to just not stay on this medication forever, the long-term safety profile on weight loss surgery is more extensive and known than it is on the continued use of these GLP-1 drugs.

There are also *possible* links to bone loss and increased risk of thyroid cancer.

For those who have taken these drugs, what about side effects?

NP here - how long did it take him to start to to lose that drive to overeat after starting? I'm just starting and a little panicky that I'm not feeling effects yet.

I take Qysmia. I had rapidly gained 40lbs in a year and endocrinologist was freaking out about all my #s (as was I). Lost it in 4 months. I now take the starter dose again as a maintenance.

Doctor said I could take either, but I want to know if they've worked for anyone, and what the side effects are like.
