This is one of those things where MCPS admins and educators will say one thing officially and do another thing informally which causes tension and fights between parents and their kids.
Just say seniors don't have to come but if they want to come, they're welcome and they'll be in a study hall and whatever other activities they have in place for them. What's so hard about that?
There is no instruction, PP. Why would you force your kid to go? He can sleep in, and do some homework at home, like my senior.
And it's not just seniors. Wellness activities are merely babysitting - they're not meaningful or relevant. A LOT of kids are not going. They can work, or play if they have the time.
This isn't the same as skipping a real school day. My senior would never do that.
