Portmeirion? There's also Villeroy and Boch. But see PP above, a lot of dinnerware is now made in other countries like Vietnam. If you see the term "crafted in England" it means designed in England but outsourced to other countries. Same concept applies to "crafted in America" stuff too.

If you really want something definitely made in England, John Julian is wonderful. Plain but very high quality. Most of my everyday dishes are from him. There's also Denby.

A lot of it is made in China now, which is disappointing.

You mean an English brand or a particular look? Wedgewood has some everyday patterns. We used to use Queens Plain.
