If we are lucky we get one of those as a sub. They have to cover general education and specials teacher absences first, then IF there are additional subs, the special education teacher will be covered.

OP seems to be implying that the same thing happens in APS when SPED teachers are out. I wouldn't be surprised given the teacher/substitute shortage.

I am sorry you expect a complete narrative on your child every quarter. I am an APS teacher and I do copy and paste part of my comments which detail what we have learned during the quarter. That is the same for everyone. Then I add a few sentences specific to that child depending on what I want to convey.

This isn't a teacher issue. This is systemic- there aren't enough qualified teachers and there are no subs. Checking a teacher's license will do nothing.

There are lots of provisionally licensed SPED teachers in our local districts, no other way to staff the programs. IAs are being pulled to sub frequently, with no additional pay or training. SPED in this country is a house of cards about to fall.
