Why is that hilarious? Yes, $64 is a decent chunk of change, but I don't understand why you think it incredibly funny for someone to want to help a kid whose parent won't pay for whatever reason?

Our elementary changed to Williamsburg this year and we went the week before Christmas break on a Friday. It would have be nice to have had ore time there. We didn't leave until 9:00 am. It was 60 for chaperones I think and $40 for the kids . THe 4th grade used the amount the PTA gives each grade level to subsidize the kids. I think there might have been some additional funding from the CIty of Fairfax. I think if you couldn't afford it, there were funds to take care of those kids. We had coach buses. The kids had to pack lunch and snacks. THey could snack on the bus. I brought extra snacks in my bag in case someone in my group didn't have anything. We are a Title One school. The trip was nicely done and the kids seemed to enjoy it. We had a great guide at Williamsburg. The one drawback was eating lunch outside in a picnic area. It was cold, wasn't a bad day in the sun, but the picnic area was shady.

What did you pay?
I am not PP but have taught in the area for 25 years, many of those years in 4th grade. The typical cost for this trip ranges from $55-80, depending on the number of stops— Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown.
